In 1987, I traveled to China with a group of people. While there I took more than 3500 photographs and recorded around 30 hours of sound. This film is the result. A panel Q&A will follow with Harry Roseman, Rea Silvia Feriozzi, Lieb Mathieson & Benjamin Keddy.

Artist's Statement:
In 1987 I took a trip to China; While there I took more than 3,500 still photographs and recorded more than 30 hours of sound. At the time I figured I would, at some point, do something with that material. It wasn't until 2019 when I started work on the first of these animations; 30 years had gone by. Now approaching 40 years, I fully realize that this time span brought me to an understanding of what this project is fundamentally about.
When I started work on these films I set up a few basic rules. I am not allowed to use any images or sound that I did not produce on this trip, but I am allowed to alter the sound and images as needed for the sake of the films.
