175 Years of Millerton: A Whole Village, Nine Days, One Big Celebration

Some towns mark an anniversary with a cake and a ribbon cutting. Millerton is taking nine days.

From July 11 through July 19, 2026, the village turns 175, and the whole place is leaning all the way in. Millerton grew up around the railroad that arrived in 1851, and this summer the village is celebrating everything that has taken root here since. A parade and live music, a comedy night and a car show, a drone light show, fireworks, and the groundbreaking for a brand new community pool. If you have been looking for a reason to spend a long summer weekend in the Hudson Valley, this is it.

Here is what the week holds.

Opening day sets the tone

Saturday, July 11 comes out of the gate full. The 175th Celebration Parade rolls down Main Street, while a town wide Climate Smart Flea Market and a Craft Vendor Market spread out from Eddie Collins Memorial Park and through the village. The NECC Farmers Market sets up at the Methodist Church, the Moviehouse hosts a free screening of A League of Their Own, the Fire Department throws open its trucks for Touch-a-Truck, and kids can dress up their wheels at the Bike Decorating Contest at Irondale Schoolhouse.

The day closes with something that will outlast the weekend: a groundbreaking ceremony and concert for Millerton's new pool. Stop by the concert to fill out a card for the 175 Reasons Why We Love Millerton project. Once the pool is finished, all 175 cards will be displayed in the park for good.

Midweek belongs to the village itself

The middle of the week slows down and turns local. There is a special 175th dinner at the Millerton Inn on Monday, a lawn party there on Wednesday, and on Thursday, July 16 the Millerton Business Alliance hosts its Summer Stroll, with sales, snacks, pop ups, and refreshments at shops up and down the street. Thursday night brings a comedy show at Eddie Collins Memorial Park. It is the kind of stretch that rewards wandering with no particular plan.

The Fair is the grand finale

From Friday, July 17 through Sunday, July 19, the 175th Fair takes over Eddie Collins Memorial Park, and this is where everything comes together. Expect live music across the weekend, a kids stage, an agriculture tent with local 4H groups showing their animals, a petting zoo, adoptable pets looking for homes, inflatable rides and carnival games, food and beer vendors, and a merch booth full of keepsakes you will not find again after this summer.

Friday night is the one to circle: a drone light show and fireworks lighting up the park. The fair runs all weekend, the NECC Farmers Market returns Saturday, and the North East Ford Car and Motorcycle Show rolls in to close things out on Sunday.
